When I was a little girl, pink was my favorite color. It was my color of choice for pretty much everything I did. My bedroom looked like a bottle of Pepto Bismol had exploded in it. Pink Carpet, Pink Curtains, Pink Bedding, Pink Stuffed Animals, Pink! Pink! Pink! If we went out for ice cream I picked whatever was pink, which was usually bubble gum or sherbert. I didn’t care as long as it was Pink! I think if I had known pink hair was an option, I would have begged my mom to let me color it then.
I recently had my hair appointment. Like always, my stylist asked ‘What are we going to do today?’. The words ‘Color my hair pink’ came out of my mouth before I even realized what I was saying. My stylist looked as surprised as I did and asked if I was sure. I thought about it for a second and then said, ‘Sure! Why not?’.
This past year I have had many different hairstyles. Mid life crisis maybe? Or maybe I am just starting to feel comfortable enough to do things just for the fun of it.
I have always been a blonde and wanted to try something darker, so the year of hairstyle changes began.
- First change: Long blonde hair to long dark brown with caramel highlights. I kept that hairstyle for about 4 months.
- Next, I cut my hair shoulder length and kept the dark brown color.
- Then, I decided to go back blonde and cut my hair in more of a short bob.
So, why not try pink? It is only hair, right? It will grow back and I am sure I will be changing it again soon anyway.
How bright of a pink was I willing to go was the next question. Since I was not quite sure how much I wanted to commit to the color, I opted for pastel pink. I did know I did not want my hair as pink as the picture above, so subtle it was to start.
My hair appointment went as usual. I waited anxiously as I had my normal foil highlights applied. By this point, I am pretty excited about my choice to go pink. Once the highlights had processed, it was time to add the pink.
This was done by using a shampoo that adheres to the processed hair. We decided to let it sit for 2 minutes, then rinse.
I couldn’t really tell the shade until my hair had been blown dry, but I was instantly in love. I knew I could have even gone darker and still been happy.
So, if you are asking if you should add a little pink to your life, I say go for it! It is one of my favorites so far. If you are looking to add a little pink without a big commitment, then this Viral shampoo is a great choice for you!
The longer you leave it in your hair, the brighter pink it will become. I am going to go a little brighter next wash! Who knows, I may go full pink like the picture at the top of this page next time. Live a little, right?
It does come in many colors and has great reviews.
